Madonna’s daughter to show off her fashion sense with clothing line at Macy’s
The question is, what material will the Material Girl choose?
Yep, Madonna and her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes Ciccone Leon (otherwise known as Lola), will launch a Material Girl clothing line exclusively at Macy’s on Aug. 3. With 200 stores nationwide, it’s quite a start.
Although the singer is known for her outre outfits and assorted personas through the decades, her commercial forays into fashion have been limited to starring in ads for Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabanna and Versace.
Oh, yes, there was that guest appearance at H&M, when M by Madonna had a moment in 2007.
But this is Lourdes’ first extensive line, and it targets the tween and up market Lola dominates. Her photos in the tabloids show a mini Madonna, from the generous eyebrows to mom’s eclectic sense of style.
“I really like the way Lola dresses,” Madonna said in a Macy’s release. “I think this line is absolutely an extension of her taste. We like to combine, say, like a plaid or a flannel with lace or leather with lace or rhinestones. So we mix and match textures and fabrics and elements that are both masculine and feminine.”
The collection, geared to fashionistas from 13 to 25, is influenced by Madonna’s taste in music, dance and Hollywood. It mixes hard and soft elements — like a tutu dress and studded combat boots, or an oversized boyfriend sweatshirt with a floral print miniskirt.
The line will include shoes, handbags and jewelry, with prices ranging from $12 to $40.
Beauty and fragrance are set to follow next year.
Material Girl also willl be online at www.macys.com in time for the back-to-school season.
