Taylor Swifts “Mine” Video or New Teenage Dream
It is interesting that the premiere of the “Mine” video of Taylor Swift comes less than three weeks after the wonderful exposure of the “teenage dream” of Katy Perry” paper clip. For all her differences they are in the essentials about the same thing: the imagination of young, absolutely modern women.
Of course that imagination about has as passed away as the women whom they present. The “teenage dream of Perry” is a lot about the directness of the pleasure, from amusing and erotic Toleration on the beach and the uninhibited street trip adventures.
Swift’s version is just the opposite: Yours one is a dream which is marked by the satisfaction of the long-term, from a goopy man and towheaded to children and white strike post fences by buoys.
They are two wildly different sides of the same coin: Perry wants to be free; Taylor wants a man. And that with which you incline to identify probably says very much about you.
To be clear, these are not certainly only two avenues which are not available for women (long ago), but if you want to become professorial about things, “offer teenage dream” and “mine” quite interesting dissecting of the feminism in the 21st century.
